High School Spanish 3
High School Spanish 3 will be using Practice Makes Perfect: Spanish Conversation by Jean Yates for grammar both semesters; Easy Spanish Reader by William T. Tardy 3rd edition for reading comprehension first semester; and Me llamo Maria Isabel by Alma Flor Ada for reading comprehension second semester.The books can be purchased at amazon.com may be available second hand. This text will be one of many resources used to enrich students in Spanish and increase their comfort with speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
Spanish 3 will be conducted primarily in Spanish. Students will be required to speak Spanish to each other and to the teacher. Assistance will be given if needed, after the student has had ample opportunity to speak in Spanish. The goal is to get students comfortable conversing in Spanish. Perfection is not required, though we will focus on grammar topics that may be difficult for students during the grammar portion of class. The last 15-20 minutes of class will be Spanish grammar taught in English.
Classes will include lecture, reading, writing, Spanish conversation, as well as games, roll playing opportunities, and student presentations. Computer and internet access are required as homework will be submitted in class as well as through an online learning management system. Quizzes will be administered online. Students will be required to give one cultural presentation each semester. Grades will be based on homework, quizzes, classroom participation and cultural presentations.
